Maggie and I were watching a documentary earlier on Apollo 8. The Saturn V rocket, the guidance computer and DSKY input, the space sextant — it was all a technological marvel.
And then I remembered when I was 10 or 11 and finally got my highly anticipated NASA Space Shuttle game for my Atari 2600.
Activision worked with NASA to ensure the accuracy and challenge of Space Shuttle. It is one of the most complicated games ever made for the Atari 2600.
Get the fuck out. One had to successfully launch, pilot the craft into outer space, and then return home. Activision made the best games and I was overly excited to be an 8-bit astronaut.
I played it for about an hour and then never again. Because I didn’t get to shoot any aliens or even get outta the damn cockpit for some moon-walking.

Sometimes I dream that I’m floating on a raft in the middle of the ocean. My foot is dangling off the side. I can’t move because there’s no where to go. Drifting on an endless sea. Claustrophobic on my 8’ pontoon.
And then I wake up and the damn cats are hogging the bed. Again. 🙄

Pro tip: be really good at accepting people’s help.
As humans we can be fiercely independent critters but pride is irrelevant and unuseful.
Wanna know why? You know that good feeling you get when you yourself extend your hand to help, for no other reason than you’re a good person? That warm fuzzy you get when we make the world not all about us?
Don’t deprive someone else offering help that same kind of warm fuzzy feeling. It’ll make them feel good and very well may be the best part of their day.
PS- my dictionaries are telling me that “unuseful” is not a word. They can go fuck themselves. 👍

Me: I found another movie for us to watch.
Mom: Great! What’s it about?
Me: A couple get lost in the woods. But they come across a motel. But the motel is inhabited by cannibals.
