Since the dawn of Hollywood, no movie star has seemed to need stardom—or movies—less than Harrison Ford. Chris Heath crisscrosses the country with the 75-year-old legend to find out why indifference has made all the difference in the world.
It’s well worth the 15-20 minutes it’ll take you to read it. Written interviews are so much better than video interviews. He doesn’t come off as nearly as crass. But maybe he’s not crass at all. Maybe he’s just unreflective.
My favorite quip:
Do you care what people think about you?
“Only if I’m with them at the time.”

Peeps, here’s your stripped-away-my-garment Friday jam.
This is definitely my favorite Devo song. It’s a nice slow build with all that emotional angst toward another that I’m so fond of. Decent audio quality for a live video, too, even if Mark Mothersbaugh’s keyboards are a little high in the mix.
And bonus points for Mothersbaugh, doing the Rugrats sound track and all.

Earlier today I did a Facebook sponsored post for my diaries podcast. Now my site is being hammered with bogus hits.
Why do I think they’re bogus? Because between 12:07 pm and 12:51 pm I had 130+ hits from Facebook, all with nearly identical Facebook app versions (140.0.0.63.89) and iOS versions (10.3.3).
Not a single Android hit. Not a single browser hit with Firefox, Chrome, or Internet Explorer.
And NONE of them had JavaScript or cookies enabled. That NEVER happens.
Download the spreadsheet if ya wanna see some suspicious activity.
Facebook is regularly caught inflating metrics so this doesn’t surprise me but it does piss me off.
And the hits are still pouring in. π π

The mailman drops the mail off in the little reception area here at work.
Fearless Leader just yelled “HI” to him from his office. π€

Was it the sort of “hi” that means he’s trying to humanize himself by connecting with those he considers beneath him, but ends up sounding like it’s his first day out of alien spy school and he’s also kind of a jerk? That kind of “hi”?

Haha! That was pretty much it.
The mailman didn’t verbally respond. I wish I could’ve seen the expression on his face. I bet he had a visual response.

I picture bosses as overgrown children with ADHD and a mean streak. The “hi” was the same you’d hear from a kindergartner who was only trying to lure into his web of loneliness and torment. He’d appear nice for awhile but sooner or later he’d steal your damn pants and tell Eileen Martin you weren’t wearing any when you got there.

T, one of your comment notifications went to my spam folder in Gmail… But only one. Maybe because there were a lot in a short time, I’m not sure.
I’d also like to see the mailman’s expression! Your boss’s hi reminds me of a guy in the office here - he’s the kind of person who asks “how’s it going” but completely doesn’t even hear you respond. I mean, I’m sure I could literally reply with “yellow dinosaur ping-pong” and he would never notice.
Jimi - never take your pants off for a kindergartner. It’s definitely frowned upon.

Yep, frequency is a big part of the Gmail spam filters.
Someday I’m gonna build a notification system like FB’s into the site. Email is so 1990s.

Gmail also marks anything in a foreign language as spam, and you can’t turn that off. Which is annoying if you have friends in non-english-speaking countries.
I like the notification idea.

T: None are Eileen.
Keamoose: I know that NOW. But he had a certain kinda reasonableness about him and a je ne sais quoi that couldn’t be turned off. :)

Just look at all that fun! Cables and clamps, buckets and pylons!
And an Igloo, too, for when ya get thirsty. π
