According to the Liberty Way, homosexual behavior was strictly prohibited, as were all sexual relationships outside of marriage. The consequence of spreading one’s seed wasn’t excommunication, but was of a financial nature: Sex, or any violation of the Liberty Way, earned a student a certain number of demerits. To remain in good academic standing, you had to get these demerits off of your record, and the only way to do that was to pay. When I was there, I think the fine was $10 per demerit on any over four. So the price wasn’t steep. But the real consequence—and the administration knew this—was having to put up with classmates who knew about your transgression. Not that they would judge you (not all of them) but they would pray for you, usually publicly: “I don’t really want to say who and embarrass him, because he’s my roommate and brother in Christ, but please remember him in prayer, because he’s struggling with homosexuality.”
It’s lengthy but a good read.

i wish there were more christians who lived their faith. the world would be better. with the drek of humanity still only going throug the motions and in fact using the pick and choose method of faith, status quo can be expected.
jesus prayed for the poor, fed the hungry, clothed the naked, prayed for prostitutes and other sinners.
he NEVER MENTIONED Abortion or Homosexual relationships. his ministry is just about the opposite of the Republican agenda and definitely the opposite of the extreme fringe, the tea party and the moral majority.
The same ones who who want Jesus to co-sign their every abomination, no matter how deliberately in denial of his message it might be.
The Liberal, Democratic agenda is closest to what Jesus preached, no matter what you've imagined or lied about what the Bible says.
i know you more or less agree with me t, so i'm kinda just bleating.
and like jimmy swaggart and the as yet unproven husband of Michelle Bachman, the more they are against something the more they are guilty of the same kind of wrascality.

In other news, I can’t believe Sigourney will be 64 this year.
Yep, I’m on a first name basis with her and the rest of the aliens.

My goal this week has been to only enter odd numbers when using the microwave.
My success rate has been “not too shabby.”

Just a little programming humor..
The developer on the right is pointing out a problem while the one on the left is saying it’s not his problem.

I like Daylight Saving Time, and the advantages it brings more than make up for the slight disruption in my schedule. In fact, the most annoying thing to me about the DST changeovers is hearing people complain about them. The “lost hour of sleep” is especially rich. Who are these hothouse flowers who always get exactly the same amount of sleep except for that terrible day in March? To hear them talk, you’d think they never stay up late watching a movie or reading a book. Only prisoners have such regimented lives.
Same.

In indiana, they acted like they were the subject of, you guessed it, a government conspiracy type evil experiment. God, I wish I was kidding or exaggerating for effect.
you should have heard them howl.
growing up with it, it seemed unnatural not to have it.
a few years back indiana switched too, and now every year we hear people say that they never get back to normal until it switches back.
they are the stupidest, most redneck, active practioners of beastiality and least hygienic people on the planet.
there are other examples: they vote republican passionately. they lost more jobs per capita than any place on the planet during W's regime. and voted republican.
and they don't sell alcohol on sunday. the jesus fever is epidemic.

Indiana sounds charming.
We almost moved to Fort Wayne back in ‘98 and based on your experiences, I have no regrets of not.

I suppose if I don’t want someone to feel paranoid then I shouldn’t act suspicious.

i don't always count him as horror but one of my favorite characters is Dr. Hannibal Lector. i should add that he falls on the "hero" side of my favorite characters.

By all means, the best villainy hero of our times.

Captchas are those scrambled words and box that some websites force you to deal with in order to complete their forms. Developers use them because they help stop the spambots from filling up their databases and email queues with junk data.
Why are they stupid? Because they shift the spambot problem away from the developers and onto the visitors.
The thing is — it’s not the visitor’s problem. It’s not my problem. It’s your problem and you, as a developer, should deal with it. I don’t care if you’re using my captcha response to digitize books or provide water for kids in Africa. Visitors shouldn’t be at the mercy of high-and-mighty developers who’d rather tinker with their controllers and models and database schemas. I’ve been witness and victim to too many lazy backend developers who unloaded their problems onto other people.
I know what you’re thinking — Facebook, Google, Twitter — the big boys all use them. Try this thinking instead: your users. Anything that stands in the way of an awesome experience that lands on my desk gets an automatic veto. It doesn’t matter if it adds another day or another week to the project. I don’t care about your development hurdles, I care about generating revenue and 100% of the time that depends on user experience.
The visitor interaction of whatever software you’re developing is what counts. Visitors fill out your forms because they want to interact with you, and more likely your boss. Capturing their data, making that process as simple as possible, that’s more important than not capturing the spambot’s.
