I had a few copies of my November diaries left so Maggie and I left them at the St. Charles library. I’m always pleased to see so many people here on a Saturday morning.

It’s the middle of January but that doesn’t mean we can’t still have flowers…so here ya go, peeps.

Hate those things! So much so that I keep old caps from travel size tubes. I unscrew the flip caps and replace immediately upon breakage (which is inevitable). Life hack? Not really just fed up with companies doubling the amount of packaging plastic “for consumer convenience”.

Audio (MP3): 20180112 - No sirens, no lights, just horsepower
When I was driving to work this morning a sheriff’s car was behind me in the other lane. As we approached the intersection on Randall and 64 the stoplight turned yellow. I slowed down and stopped because I’m sure the sheriff had his eye on me. And of course my license plates are expired.
So then the sheriff gunned his car and blew through the red light. No sirens, no lights, just horsepower. Whether or not he was within his law enforcement privileges to do such isn’t important to what I’m writing here.

Well said. And it’s possible that sheriff got a call to a nearby spot that called for no lights/no sirens.

Exactly. I can make assumptions and assume I know what’s going on but in reality most of the time I have no clue as to what people are doing or why.

I appreciate this particular post on many levels.
There are good people all around, you simply need to seek them out - and be a decent (humble) person in doing so. Generalizations are the antithesis of progress.
Based on your other posts, I notice that self-reflection, witty humor and eloquent writing seem to some of your strong points.
Best of luck on your journey that is life! Keep at it!

I think it’s easy for us (humans) to lump people into a group to justify our hate. I think what you realized is, the initial thought (when we hate), is not even a truth. It’s just us hating. Finding the truth is what matters. Let’s help each other to not have “knee jerk” reactions and go around hating. Let’s do what you are doing. We have the power to LOVE. It takes patience, understanding, kindness, forgiveness, giving, caring, educating, wisdom. Thanks for the honesty in this post. The truth shall set you free.

Watch The Fall so Stella (Gillian Anderson) can teach you how to be a boss. Warning: Some spoilers ahead!
You should really watch The Fall on Netflix even if it’s a few years old. It’s so much better than the X-Files reboots.
Seriously.

Hi Xxxxxxx,
Can you please confirm that system will de-dupe from bounce-backs in Nov-December
No, the system was not designed to capture the bounces and skip them during future email blasts. I’ve answered similar questions on bounced emails from Xxxx and Xxxxxx both.
I realize there has been confusion about the bounced emails along with what the system tracks and reports and does. With email systems bounced tracking is typically included.
But… the proposals for both Xxxx’s email system and Xxxxxx’s email campaigns had zero mention of providing any functionality related to bounced emails. So the system provides zero support for any that.
I hate to repeat these things over and over again but I would strongly encourage everyone involved to know what the system is capable of. The things it does are what’s in the proposals. If it’s not in the proposal, it doesn’t do them.
I’m starting to feel like I’m constantly the bearer of bad news, that these questions are landing on my desk like I didn’t build enough features into the system. But in reality the system does exactly what Xxxx and Xxxxxx were willing to pay for.
Thanks,
-Xxxxxx
Why do I have to write emails like this?

I went to a project management course once, and the first thing the trainer said was that if you’re running a project you should read the scope of work. I looked around and people were going “huh, that’s a good idea, I never thought of that”. I almost walked out right then.

What a concept!! 🤣
The very best part of my email is that the person I sent it to was the one that actually wrote both proposals. 🙄

Re: “…I almost walked out…”
I was at a conference and the speaker talked about something that was clearly his pet project. He graduated from Harvard and at least he thought that meant he was a big deal. He was the first one to talk after lunch so everyone was trying to nap and paying about zero attention.
The details of his project are boring but what happened was so cool.
His project was near and dear to him and he was VERY passionate about it. He tried to stay calm but he kept getting more and more emotional, possibly because he sensed that no one was paying attention (except for me and at least one other character in the story).
Ok, the gist of it is that he started crying. Off the chain, koo-koo-for-cocoa-puffs crying and he had to end early.
No one seemed to notice. Shit you not.
The Dr. who was in charge of the conference jumped up really quick and said, “Well, it’s hard to follow Harvard!”
The story is cool enough for me right there, but the side show was that hardly anybody noticed his breakdown and the other Dr. jumping up to fill in the blank spot left on the podium when he abruptly stepped down.
No one told us these little nuggets would happen when they were explaining the whole adult thing.
