Audio (MP3): 20190308 - A view from the mountaintop
Whenever I’m in the kitchen cooking I always turn on the television. The TV gets a bad rap but there are good things on, it just depends on what we watch. Believe it or not television is filled with spiritual insights, spiritual motivators, spiritual empowerment.
So then a couple nights ago I was watching a documentary on Martin Luther King Jr. The documentary was more about his assassin, the racial tension, and the like. The whole vibe of that era was unnerving my kitchen as I cooked up the French Toast.
Sprinkled throughout, though, were snippets of speeches and conversations with MLK Jr. And for that I am grateful. It kept the world from going too dark.

People don’t come into recovery because they think it’s a good idea.
They come in because they’ve set something on fire and are scared shitless.

“…on a winning streak”
That’s the one I’ve heard a lot and like. I clearly remember somebody saying this to me when I was in early recovery and stressed as my messy life situation(’s) were slowly untangling from the web I created during my active alcoholism. At the time those problems seemed unsolvable. Now, many months later, all those “problems” have solved themselves. How about that!
“None of us come into recovery on a winning streak.”

Video (MP4): 20190307 - Confront your feelings
I’ve been writing and recording music for close to 30 years. This is the latest track. You should listen to it with headphones.
The words below are various thoughts I’ve had and one-liners I’ve collected over the last year. They seem to go hand in hand with the audio. We can’t be a fruity butterfly all the time.
Intolerant. Not verbally just mentally.

Luke was still drinking the blue milk, barely gone through puberty, and didn’t even know how his light saber worked.
He was down on the farm playing with his model spaceships while Leia was being tortured by Lord Vader and his robotic minions. And she never broke.
Leia was always out for the greater good of the rebellion, of the galaxy. Kinda like Sara.
But Sara is not your sister.
Those remind me of Shrinky Dinks

When you lose interest in Facebook, they start emailing you.
Because they want you to rub the lotion on the skin again.
They want to show you ads based on your menstrual cycles.

I found a planner from 1991 while basement cleaning earlier. I used it as a journal of sorts for much of the year. No real emotion, more facts of the daily adventures and non-adventures. I didn’t read too much from it because I don’t like to revisit certain lost eras.
However, I did write something toward the back about somebody by the name of Melville and his thoughts on sanity and insanity. How they were akin to the “points in the rainbow where one color begins and another ends.”

Three years ago I started keeping a notebook sort of as a planner. I did this because Mom told me about one that she was given that was her mothers. Same type of deal with the contents just daily activities. Like yours mine started out impersonal - appointments, phone calls I made/received, and things I needed to follow up on.
Oh and most importantly what and when I fixed something for supper (hate to food poison myself easy way to prevent this) I thought it might be neat for my kids to look at some day or even my grand-kids. Over the course of the last three years darn thing has evolved as….you guessed it a journal full of emotions splattered everywhere. Now I’m not so sure I want anyone to read it :)

100% of the emotional things I write, I don’t want anyone to read it. Myself included. :)
