Do people do New Years Day dinner? Is that a thing for some of you festive folk?

I kinda like the idea of a great New Years Day brunch. I seem to enjoy cooking that kinda thing more. But then again, I don’t know if that’d pan out if I’d stayed up until midnight the night before. ๐ด

I think that sounds great. And most places here serve brunch until 3 pm. Wikipedia also says up to 3 pm. So you don’t have to be up THAT early. ๐

There are all kinds of things you could make ahead or prep ahead. One of them is peach French toast. It needs to sit overnight in the fridge. It’s yummy!

We just had cornbread, black eyed peas & baked potatoes. The black eyed peas & cornbread are good luck to eat on New Year’s Day in Southern culture.

Mom’s family had ham and navy beans & cornbread every New Years Day. Beans for prosperity…but when she and Dad married she had to add large Lima Beans w / Ham & cornbread…Dad disliked Little Navy Beans.

Night before last Sara helped me with figuring out which health care insurance plan would be a good fit for my medical needs and budget. Of course one needs to provide their address, phone number, and so on for such things. I expected the sales reps to start contacting me before long. Below is one such conversation, fired from the hip…

So what’s the alternative to getting the COVID vaccine? Let the virus/disease run its course?

· Dec 27, 2020 at 1:13 pm
I guess so, but that didn’t work in Sweden. You can get sick again after a few months, and you’ll take other people out even if you survive. Plus, even if you don’t die, the long-term effects can include severely reduced lung capacity (like 50%), brain damage, and stroke or other cardiovascular issues even after a mild case. There was a group of college football players who all had mild cases of Covid and all were diagnosed with a very rare and serious heart inflammation afterward, and obviously those are young, healthy people. The vaccine can’t make you sick, and the chances of a serious reaction are very very low. It’s been properly tested, the only reason it’s faster than usual is that it didn’t have to keep stopping to apply for more funding and the review was done as the testing went along instead of all after the fact. Are you worried about it? Can I help explain anything?
tam.the.terrible
· Dec 27, 2020 at 3:21 pm
Thank you for this. I was always going to get the vaccine, pre-registered for it last week. But this makes me feel less anxious. This virus will be around for a long time.

But I can get rabies or a government microchip. The latter will let the CIA track my EVERY move. Around my house. Because I’m in quarantine. Which was the KGB’s plan from day one.
keamoose
· Dec 27, 2020 at 4:26 pm
If you have a cell phone, there’s no reason to microchip you. It’s way more efficient to have you willingly hand over all your info to Facebook. ๐

I think they injure the covid DNA when they insert the microchip in the vaccine, so it’s alive, but barely.
