Almost ten years after Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull hit theaters and after years of promises and rumors and dead-ends, it’s official: Dr. Henry “Indiana” Jones, the two-fisted archaeologist with a thing for punching Nazis and recovering ancient artifacts, is returning for a fifth film due out in a little over two years.
According to an official statement on the Walt Disney Company’s website, the untitled fifth Indiana Jones movie will arrive on July 19, 2019 and the whole gang is getting back together. Harrison Ford will return as Indy, Steven Spielberg will step behind the camera once more, and Kathleen Kennedy and Frank Marshall will produce. Here’s what you need to know from that statement:
Indiana Jones will return to the big screen on July 19, 2019, for a fifth epic adventure in the blockbuster series. Steven Spielberg, who directed all four previous films, will helm the as-yet-untitled project with star Harrison Ford reprising his iconic role. Franchise veterans Kathleen Kennedy and Frank Marshall will produce.
I’m pleased that Harrison Ford is coming back and this didn’t turn into a reboot with Bradley Cooper.
With that said, Harrison is 74. I also kinda hope they call it something as simple Indiana Jones 5.

A little under five years ago, I got angry about a piece of fake information, and I decided to do something about it. I was reading a recipe in the New York Times, and the recipe told me, as many, many recipes had told me before, that it would take about 10 minutes of cooking to caramelize onions.
I knew from personal experience that this was a lie. Recipes always said it took 5 or 10 minutes to caramelize onions, and when you followed the recipes, you either got slightly cooked onions or you ended up 40 minutes behind schedule. So I caramelized some onions and recorded how long it really took—28 minutes if you cooked them as hot as possible and constantly stirred them, 45 minutes if you were sane about it—and I published those results on Slate, along with a denunciation of the false five-to-10 minute standard.

Peeps, here’s your dancing-in-the-deepest-oceans Wednesday jam.
If you need a good compilation of their songs, you can’t go wrong with Galore. Robert Smith told me I HAD TO listen to it at least once a month. And then as he walked away I thought, “Why won’t you ever know that I’m in love with you?”

Peeps, here’s your this-is-where-it-falls-apart jam for today.
Definitely one of my go-to jams in 1996 during my breakup with Kathy. The emotional lyrical angst tethered to electric beeps and fuzzy, mechanical broodings leading the charge for relentless guitars, bass, and drums. Can’t beat it when you’re 24 and your life comes crashing down.
Stabbing Westward was one of the few industrial rock bands that should’ve been way more successful than they were. Right up there with Ministry in my book.
And they were from Macomb, Illinois of all places.

I’m looking forward to seeing Karen Allen again because “Starman”. She’s so goddam cute it oughta be against the law.

I’m glad I can’t argue there.
