Supreme Court — Constitution guarantees right to same-sex marriage

BREAKING: Supreme Court Rules Same-Sex Marriage To Be Law Of The Land Nationwide In Historic Ruling

Same-sex couples have the constitutional right to marry, and states cannot take that right away from them, says the U.S. Supreme Court in a 5-4 ruling handed down moments ago. The decision requires all 50 states and all U.S. territories to recognize all legally-performed marriages from all jurisdictions, and to extend marriage to same-sex couples. In short, the court’s decision requires all states to treat marriages of same-sex couples exactly as they treat marriages of different-sex couples.

The United States now becomes one of about 21 countries that have extended marriage to same-sex couples.

I remember when Gremlins and Ghostbusters were both at the theaters in Ottumwa.

Being a 12 year old, I think it was the best movie pairing I could ask for.

No more buying spells on Etsy :[

No more buying spells on Etsy

Etsy Explains Why It Banned Magic Spells

It’s been an eventful year for Etsy. This month the online crafts marketplace turns ten years old. Its IPO debuted in April. Oh, and it’s just updated its rules, forbidding the sale of spells, enchantments, and any supernatural service which promises to change your life.

You might not have known that Etsy was full of witches, or “spellcasters”, as many identify themselves. Historically, the website has been a favourite for supernatural sellers, and not just because its DIY aesthetic fits with home voodoo and casual shamanism.

But now, in a move even clairvoyants might have missed, the witches of Etsy are being ousted from their online home. Forum threads have sprung up filled with embittered hoodoo practitioners and sellers of healing crystals, detailing the ban of sales of “spell packs, herbs, and blessed jewellery.”

Victoria Zasikowski, a seller of spells and readings on Etsy and Bonanza (another online marketplace more tolerant to sellers of “intangibles”) contacted me by email about the notifications she and other sellers had received. “Shop owners like myself discovered ‘Shop Suspension’ notification emails in our inboxes,” she wrote. “Huge numbers of sellers there have been affected, and will continue to be affected… Swathes of us have now had our sales and shop views tank, and there is great distress in the metaphysical community.”

Looks like my secretly planned charms and spells Etsy store is now dead in the water.

I’ll probably have to peddle my witchery and magic rocks along side the filthy soap makers at the flea markets.

Never Say Never by Romeo Void

tcr! · Jun 24, 2015 at 10:09 am

Peeps, here’s your new wave, early 80s jam for today…

If this doesn’t make you feel like dancing this hump day, I don’t know what will.

If time itself was his demeanor
There’d be no sunlight or a glimmer
Of sunlight landing on the street
Sunsuit girls must be discreet
Sunsuit girls must be discreet
Nursing their fathers locked inside
They masqueraded as his bride

I might like you better
If we slept together
I might like you better
If we slept together
I might like you better
If we slept together
But there’s somethin’
In your eyes that says
Maybe that’s never
Never say never

The slump by the courthouse
With windburn skin
That man could give a fuck
About the grin on your face
As you walk by, randy as a goat
He’s sleepin on papers
When he’d be warm in your coat

I might like you better
If we slept together…

There’s no easy way to lose your sight
On the street, on the stairs
Who’s on your flight
Old couple walks by, as ugly as sin
But he’s got her and she’s got him

I might like you better
If we slept together…

Sunsuit girls must be discreet
Nursing their fathers locked inside
They masqueraded as his bride

The General Lee toy car is no more

Warner Bros scraps Dukes of Hazzard car toys over Confederate flag controversy

Warner Bros scraps Dukes of Hazzard car toys over Confederate flag controversy

The Confederate flag may or may not be removed from government buildings in South Carolina, but the relic is definitely being removed from at least one southern icon. Warner Bros. today announced that it was halting production of toys and replicas of the General Lee, the car from the Dukes of Hazzard, which famously bore the flag on its roof. The company follows in the footsteps of retailers Amazon, Sears, eBay, and Walmart, all of whom elected to ban sales of the Confederate flag and its image this week after the racially motivated murders in Charleston on Sunday.

Wow, the world is going all out to rid itself of a symbol of hate.

I hadn’t really considered going this far with the General Lee being an every day part of my childhood and all…but I couldn’t imagine seeing the swastika flying without thinking of racism either.

Good god, Bill Kristol. The Confederacy was established to keep slavery alive and well.

Do we really need to respect the dead Americans who fought to keep black people in chains?

Bill Kristol supports racism
