Wonder Woman director Patty Jenkins hits back at James Cameron criticism

But in an interview with The Guardian James Cameron said “the self-congratulatory back-patting” Hollywood has been doing over Wonder Woman was “misguided”.

“She’s an objectified icon, and it’s just male Hollywood doing the same old thing! I’m not saying I didn’t like the movie but, to me, it’s a step backwards.”

The Oscar-winning director compared the character of Wonder Woman to Sarah Connor, the lead role in his Terminator films.

“Sarah Connor was not a beauty icon. She was strong, she was troubled, she was a terrible mother, and she earned the respect of the audience through pure grit.”

Responding on Twitter Patty Jenkins said that there is not only one way to be a strong woman in film.

“If women always have to be hard, tough and troubled to be strong, and we aren’t free to be multidimensional or celebrate an icon of women everywhere because she is attractive and loving, then we haven’t come very far have we.

Normally I can bet behind Cameron but If he wanted to make a point I don’t think he should’ve been comparing his own Sarah Connor to Jenkins’ Wonder Woman. Of course your stuff is never gonna be as good as mine. 🙄

Peeps, here’s Trent Reznor singing Eyes Without a Face for your Flashback Friday jam. Everybody’s got to cut their teeth somewhere.

I think this is the first and only time I haven’t seen Reznor in all black. The bridge guitar around 2:20 is good, even comes close to Steve Stephens’ fretwork. The original video had the ass-claps during the bridge that had my 14 year old self saying, “hold up.”

Final thought: Les yeux sans visage. Ya, you wouldn’t have much human grace either if someone cut off your face and left you with only your eyeballs.

Five identical statues of a nude Donald Trump have appeared overnight on street corners in San Francisco, Los Angeles, Cleveland, Seattle, and New York City. So, The Verge ran down to Union Square in NYC to see as much of fake nude Trump as our eyes could possibly tolerate (photos below!).

The Washington Post reports that the anarchist collective INDECLINE is responsible for the statues, and are calling this project “The Emperor Has No Balls.” The name is ostensibly a reference to the famous fairytale “The Emperor’s New Clothes,” in which a narcissistic emperor gets conned into strolling amongst his people in the nude. Mr. Robot fans might liken the stunt to the one pulled by the show’s anti-capitalist fsociety, who symbolically removed the testicles from the iconic Wall Street bull statue.

Man, does that skin look like chewed up pizza crust or what?
