This will probably be the last four peppers of the year… 😢

reddit user jerfoo created a lovely and simple photo series demonstrating the difference between experimental science – testing data and finding things out based on evidence – and dogmatic faith – belief in something rigidly and without wavering.
The writing and photos are brilliantly done. Direct link to the whole image.

It’s Sunday morning at 8:55am and I’ve already drank a full pot of coffee.

The downside to loving coffee is that I tend to saturate myself.

Inspired by this feeling of nostalgia I went on a hunt for great home library design ideas, and this is the most creative and beautiful ideas I found. You see, since at an early age I fell in love in books, probably because my parents had a huge room filled with books and I remember spending hours reading them and creating my own little world. Who don’t love books, who!?
There’s about 30 photos and the one I show above is probably my favorite. Except for the chair - the armrests don’t look inviting for a good read.

Beautiful. My mental image of my dream house has always included a library; lots of mahogany shelves that cover the entire wall floor to ceiling, with a wooden ladder that has big iron wheels at the bottom and slides along a rail at the top. The room would be accessed through a hidden door - one of those swinging bookcase ones that leaves a telltale fan pattern in the carpet in mystery novels. It should definitely have a window seat too, with an over the top number of pillows for getting into a comfortable reading position.

Now that sounds simply delightful! Be careful of round pillows, roll-age and all.

Michael Phillips (Chicago Tribune) plays the role of Belloq for this ‘Sacred Cow’ discussion of Steven Spielberg’s action-adventure classic “Raiders of the Lost Ark.” Plus, the Top 5 Films of 1981..
I’ve seen it too many times not to love it but Phillips makes some good points. Not sure about much after the 30 minute mark, that’s when I tuned out.

We are bowled over with the amazing detail in this collection of forgotten Dark Knight promo shots. Specifically these gorgeous images of The Joker — the detail on Heath Ledger’s costume, face, gloves, it’s beautiful. There’s even remnants of white face paint on his coat, and the orange lining inside it’s all amazing.
I miss that Keith.

However, we could humiliate them by forcing them to wear tiaras that their tiny arms could never remove.
On a serious note, the T-Rex has one of the worst arm designs of any predator.

We still have to wait over half a year for season three of Game of Thrones to premiere (sob), and while there aren’t any trailers or official promo pics yet, this video breakdown of season two’s visual effects is pretty cool. Released on the heels of the show’s Creative Arts Emmy win for Outstanding Special Visual Effects (one of six awards it won at the Creative Arts Emmys, held last Saturday), it gives a neat look at how the show’s effects team creates dragons, wildfire, creepy shadow babies, towering castles, and majestic scenery, all set to music from the show. Check it out after the jump—you know want an excuse to listen to the theme song again.
If you just want to watch the video, go straight to the YouTube. The background swapping is to-die-for amazing.

What happens when you take a scientist, liquid nitrogen and 1500 table tennis balls?
Fun is what happens.
