‘Star Wars: Episode VII’ Adds Peter Mayhew as Chewbacca (Exclusive)

The trio of new leads for Star Wars: Episode VII has yet to be revealed, but an actor from the original franchise is returning to reprise his role.

Mayhew played the legendary Wookiee and Han Solo’s co-pilot in the original trilogy, beginning with Star Wars Episode IV - A New Hope in 1977. Rumors recently surfaced that he was reprising his role after he canceled an upcoming appearance at Texas convention Comicpalooza “due to filming.” Since the convention takes place May 23-26, many fans wondered if that meant the actor would be busy with Episode VII.

I’m excited about the new movies for sure but I’ve intentionally kept myself from reading too much about them. Seeing that Mayhew is coming back is cool but I’m also kinda hoping that they skip that time period entirely.

Meaning that I’d love to see the Legacy of the Force turned into a set of films. It’s the best, mainly stars Ben Skywalker (Luke’s son) and Jacen and Jaina Solo (Han and Leia’s kids). If you ever get the hankering to read a Star Wars series, you can’t go wrong with that set.

Millennium Falcon and Death Star are also well done if you’d rather have standalone stories.

And yes, for a couple of winters all I did was read Star Wars books.

Anti-Westboro church protestors hold ‘Sorry for your loss’ sign at gig

Members of the Westboro Baptist Church demonstrated outside the Lorde concert in Kansas City Friday night, but a group of counter protesters had a more powerful message.

‘Sorry for your loss,’ read a sign held by anti-Westboro demonstrators, referring to the death last week of the church’s longtime pastor Fred Phelps.

‘We realized that it wasn’t so much about antagonizing them,’ Megan Coleman, who helped make the sign, told KSHB News. ‘But sending out the countered (statement) that we are here for people who need that message and need that positivity.’

“Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.”
