Current guidelines no longer suggest passwords should be frequently changed, because people tend to respond by making only small alterations to their existing passwords - for example, changing “monkey1” into “monkey2”- which are relatively easy to deduce.
Furthermore, it has been demonstrated that it takes longer for computers to crack a random mix of words - such as “pig coffee wandered black” - than it does for them to guess a word with easy-to-remember substitutions - such as “br0k3n!”.
Pass-phrases are the way to go. Easy to remember and harder to guess.
Sometimes I got something going on, something I’m burning too much daylight on, and I can’t figure it out. The path isn’t clear. The monkey chatter is as loud as it gets and I feel myself ratcheting up.
One time way back in high school I was struggling with a drawing. When I asked my art teacher for help she told me that I’d overworked it. And she was right, plain as day, clear as mud. I’d added layer upon layer of colored pencil and the drawing had turned to shit. Inspiration and tension don’t mix.
In another life my friends and I used to share screenshots of our computer desktops. I suspicion most people are on their phones more these days so here’s my phone home screen.
What you got?
Here are links if you don’t know how to take a screenshot: iPhone and Android.
Perusing the USPS on Facebook at 6:47 in the AM as I do, I accidentally tapped the down gray chevron. A little box appeared as they do, with a “What’s happening in this post?” heading and also “Nudity or Sex Acts” and “Violence” buttons.
For a second I wasn’t sure if I was on some underground, off-color site for the renegade Bartertown / Thunderdome types. Granted I’d only had one swill of coffee but c’mon.
