I’m completely with ya.

We should really be given licenses from the state, federal, and international gov’mints to bullwhip the morons.

T: My FB keeps f’ing up and I don’t know why. I am still all good, but I am going crazy. Not a long trip. Haven’t been this crazy so often in a long time.
I had to take a call from a patient last night:
Patient: I was in there today. They gave me a Monitor to take home. They told me “NOT to use a cell phone while I was using the Monitor.” My question for you is, “Can I use my phone for my alarm?”
Me: After mulling it over for 3 seconds, “Yeah, Go ahead and use it for your alarm.”
Patient: Can I use it for the radio?
Me: (They told you not to use the phone and you’re calling me to ask how many exceptions there are to this policy?)
What I really said is, “Well, what did they tell you again?”
There ought to be a criminal penalty for stupid questions. Whoever said there are no stupid questions has never been asked. “Should I put that fire out?”

> Belief in a higher power of your own choosing is what it states in the steps.

My higher power is my sponsor and the people in the rooms with more clean and sober time than I have.

> Central to the big book and the AA program is the serenity prayer.

I love the serenity prayer - I just leave out the “God” part at the beginning. I also don’t mind the Lords Prayer that closes most of the meetings I attend. I don’t say it, but I do participate in the hand holding and sense of togetherness it provides.

Central to the big book and the AA program is the serenity prayer.

Totally with ya… I’d take a hacksaw, some glue, and a magic marker to various parts of the Big Book if they’d let me.

This is the only part of the Big Book I hated.

As an atheist it was most unhelpful. To summarize, it basically says that it’s OK I don’t believe in God, because at some point, I will.

OK, never going to happen.

I do have a higher power, but it isn’t a deity of any kind.

This and the antiquated language is why people who are not in AA believe that it is a religious program.

1979 from 1996, man that was it. I think Corgan said that it was the best song on Mellon Collie.

Deckard: You’re reading a magazine. You come across a full-page nude photo of a girl.
Rachael: Is this testing whether I’m a replicant or a lesbian, Mr. Deckard?

True. It was only a minor incident in a dimly lit cafeteria. 😁
