so i been reading what you wrote about climbing that mountain of spiritual enlightenment. john f. used to tell me (he told PGC the same thing, i suspect) that after i attain enlightenment the first time some neanderthal ottumwa resident says something that they’re likely to say, i will be right there amongst ‘em in about .2 seconds. the human condition, (not ‘rhoids) isn’t lust, it’s anger.

the first thing of note recorded in the bible is when cain goes upside the head of his brother. dispatches his brother to his maker without undue ceremony. and for little or nothing. this is the human condition and our attempts to conquer it are doomed, methinks. we need to make friends with that part of ourselves, (i’ve always known that part but always forgot what came next) so we will be better able to forgive and love the part of ourselves that bashes some bozo’s head in during a traffic incident. if we do that, we’ll be better able to forgive and love the bozo in question for unnecessarily crossing our gilded path.

keep the words coming. spiritual revolution happens (sorry ghandi) with outbursts of murderous fucking rage and attendant slew of vile invective ‘bout our brothers.

Nice.. I spent a fair amount of time clicking the Wiki articles for her and The Runaways, too. I think I was in love with her for about four hours yesterday after watching the Crimson video on infinite loop. I like her short blonde hair better than the 80s black poof.

The absolute best songs are the ones that aren’t specific but then perfectly are to each of us.

Yep, I read, watch movies, hang out with my peeps, shuck and jive with Maggie, do laundry, wash my truck, troll the internet, take pictures with my phone and tweak them until they’re just right. Sometimes I’ll pet the cats backwards because I know they love it. I bitch and moan about shit I don’t like until I don’t care about it anymore. Sometimes I play video games for hours on end. When it’s not winter I’ll ride my bike up and down the river trails.

I’ll obsess about Joan Jett or Garp or pie.

When I’m feeling extra spiritual I’ll write about hope. I guess it’s the things that normal people do… Looking for meaning *in* life.

Burroughs said something along the lines of how we’re cursed because we know cherry highs and we’ll always be longing because of that.

I love Joan too. I’ve known her birth name for forever and I forgot this nugget until now. The article on Wik is interesting enough.

T: Re: Bowie song, “Heroes”. I always think of me and her when he starts the song:

You
You can be mean
And me
I’ll drink all the time

And I don’t know what to do when I don’t drink except not drink. I read a fair bit more than necessary or healthy. And by read, of course I mean masturbate.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Weltschmerz

My favorite part is “In Henry Miller’s Tropic of Cancer, he describes an acquaintance, “Moldorf”, who has prescriptions for Weltschmerz on scraps of paper in his pocket.”, which, you’d have to admit, would be interesting documents to own. }

Also: “they got what they voted for” is pure gold. Accept no excuses.

New this morning is that I will continue to listen to them (it’s important to listen to the other side) but when I hear any hint of back pedaling or “had no choice” or “aw shucks” or “damn, I didn’t know he was mentally ill” or “damn i didn’t know he was a criminal” or “damn i didn’t know he was retarded” or damn “i didn’t know…” I am going to be so fucking smug it will kill them.

Also new this morning, and it deserves it’s own bleat: Have you ever seen such a group of “sore winners”? It’s hard to tell they won, listening to most of ‘em. Already.

they were only banned due to a health code restriction on the “no shirt, no shoes, no service” clause. they’ve since been shod and found a clean shirt but that manager bears a grudge. i think there were cousins involved.

Wanting to be sober is a whole lot about gratitude, being grateful for the good. I plug into that, grab ahold of the meaning in life and it’s hard for me to want to put it down.

I can think about consequences and ill fates all day long but none of that ever stopped me from doing the wrong thing. Best if I focus my energies on being the best me I can in the here and now and doing the right thing.

I read once that children learn better through rewards than punishments. Feed them positives kinda thing. Same goes for me.

Go ahead and ring me tonight and I’ll answer if I’m awake. I can be hit or miss after 11pm though 😊

Your opinion is worth more than spit — White people rarely need to comment on black people’s shortcomings, but when we do we shouldn’t “colorize” it

In all seriousness that bit is from a socially sound scholar.
