Commenting on Dandelions taking over the world

Number 10 million & 1 why I live in a condo! No yard issues. However I was just griping to a friend last night that the yard diagonally across from my condo building has tons of dandelions that are 3 feet tall.
I say spray away! At least in the parameter of your lawn.

For two hundred? There’s seriously enough dandelions over there for me to feed all of Texas.

Don’t kill them! Leave them for honey bees.

I am a firm believer in “accidentally” spraying an 8 foot border around my lawn.

You should definitely post a picture of her whole yard to give everyone a better understanding. “Epidemic proportions,” is not an exaggeration.

I hope people didn’t think I was advocating setting the lawn and surrounding houses on fire either….

Just to put this out there for those inquiring publicly and privately: I wouldn’t actually spray her whole yard with weed killer. If you’re new here, it’s funny. But I do think about it and curse under my breath when she’s got a yard full of bloom that’s blowing over into my yard. I’m not sure if it’s obvious by my picture but her dandelions are of epidemic proportion. There isn’t grass over there, only dandelions and other weeds.

In the Spring they’ll take over my half my yard in a matter of days. I only resorted to spraying after 6+ years of trying to keep up with digging them by hand, etc. If ya’ll think I can dump corn meal on them and be done, I’ll gladly pay you to tend to my yard with natural remedies so long as they actually work against the sheer volume of dandelions I’m talking about. And it doesn’t cost me a small fortune for the hours you’d be putting in.

So yeah, I have no problem with occasionally spraying and spot-checking the dandelions because I’m not dealing with a simple foe here. And I have loads of other flowers (cone, milkweed, pansies, periwinkle, magnolia, daffodils, etc.) to feed the bees and butterflies.

Maybe I’ll flame thrower them after their initial spring onslaught is over. Just based on my experience with them though, the taproots will hang around no matter what you do to the leaves or flowers.

Yep, I don’t blame you being a bee keeper with a well and all.

Instead of spraying, you can use a flamethrower. All you have to do is dry out the leaves; it’s not necessary to set the neighbour’s entire lawn on fire… but I mean, that would get rid of the dandelions. And maybe the surrounding houses.

She wouldn’t have any yard left if you sprayed them all. Maybe just the ones by your fence. πŸ˜•

I am a beekeeper and also have well for drinking water. I choose not to poison the bees or the water my family drinks, sorry, not sorry. Lol

I leave them alone in nature but not in my yard. I used to feel bad about spraying them and would be out pulling them up one by one. But the next door neighbor, OMG. Her whole lawn is like that. Imagine wading through dandelions at any point while out in the yard. They take over the whole world.
