Dear Gray Overcast Sky

tcr! · Nov 9, 2012 at 4:55 pm

Dear Gray Overcast Sky,

You have been lying irrelevantly overhead for several days now and I’m tired of seeing your glooms. You remind me of the Grinch before his heart grew three sizes in that one day.

And I’ve come to realize that I want the sun and you can only offer the clouds. I don’t judge you, that’s who you are.

You’ve changed and I have as well. Or maybe I just see you differently these days. We’ll never again be lovers and I’m not even sure I want to be friends.

I do know that I want to fold you so your corners don’t meet and stuff you in a mothballed box. Then throw you in the attic until I need to feel depressed. And more than likely that’s never again.

I’m moving on.. Maybe not physically, but emotionally we’re through.

Love,
-t

Mythbusters With a Splash Breaking Bad

tcr! · Nov 9, 2012 at 3:00 pm

'Mythbusters' to do 'Breaking Bad' themed episode with Aaron Paul and Vince Gilligan

‘Mythbusters’ to do ‘Breaking Bad’ themed episode with Aaron Paul and Vince Gilligan

EW has learned that the Discovery reality series — in which everything from urban legends to Hollywood scenes are scrutinized in the name of science — will put AMC drug drama Breaking Bad under the microscope with an episode that includes appearances by star Aaron Paul and creator Vince Gilligan. “We’ve been wanting to do a Breaking Bad episode for awhile,” says Mythbusters host Adam Savage. “Obviously there’s a lot of fertile material to play with, so things that happen on the show have been ending up on our list of stories to tackle for a couple years now. And when Vince said in an interview that he’d love to see a Mythbusters/Breaking Bad crossover, we reached out to him directly and the response was overwhelming positive.”

Savage and co-host Jamie Hyneman will test the science from a scene in season 1 of Bad, in which Paul’s Jesse Pinkman uses hydrofluoric acid to dissolve a body but ignores instructions from Walt (Bryan Cranston) to use a plastic container. Jesse places the body in a bathtub instead and the acid eats right through the tub, which winds up falling through the floor. “Hydrofluoric acid is terrifying stuff,” notes Savage. “It’s not quite like alien blood, which is what a lot of people think when they think of powerful acids. It’s poisonous in a way that is completely unique and very disturbing.”

Ladies and gents, set your Tivos for this Spring.

I’ve been going into nicotine withdrawals all week even though I’m not smoking any less. I know the obvious answer is not to smoke at all but it’s unpleasantly bizarre and acutely painful.

SOD - John the Fisherman by Primus

tcr! · Nov 9, 2012 at 10:15 am

I never grow tired of this..

When he was young you’d not find him doing well in school,
His mind would turn unto the waters.
Always the focus of adolescent ridicule,
He has no time for farmer’s daughters.
Alienated from the clique society,
A lonely boy finds peace in fishing.
His mother says “John this is not the way life’s supposed to be.”
“Don’t you see the life that you are missing?”
And he says…
When I grow up I want to be,
One of the harvesters of the sea.
I think before my days are done,
I want to be a fisherman.

Now years gone by we find man that rules the sea.
He sets out on a dark May morning.
To bring his catch back to this small community.
He doesn’t see the danger dawning.
Four hours up, oh the ocean swelled and swelled,
The fog rolled in it started raining.
“The starboard bow.” “Oh my God we’re going down!”
They do not hear his frantic mayday.
And he says
When I grow up I want to be,
one of the harvesters of the sea.
I think before my days are done,
I want to be a fisherman.
“I’ll live and die a fisherman.”
Calling John the Fisherman.

I Have a Piece of Leftover Pizza

tcr! · Nov 8, 2012 at 9:42 pm

I have a piece of leftover pizza, just outta the microwave.

I want to put it between two slices of buttered bread and make a sandwich.

Is this weird?

Hold on, hold.. This is going to far with the condiments. Butter and marinara is okay, it's Italiano but the ketchup and mustard, they're too hotdog-ish.

I think the pizza sandwich is, essentially, a form of grilled cheese. Grilled cheese needs mustard like the Doctor needs the TARDIS.

Interesting. Odd. Not thought of before. Not bad. But I'm still skeptical of the mustard/marinara tango you're proposing.

I also cannot co-sign any Doctor Who references.

Zombie Gummy Bears and More

tcr! · Nov 8, 2012 at 5:00 pm

The zombie gummy bears are coming to get you,...

The zombie gummy bears are coming to get you,…

Photographer Tau Zero makes sci-fi scenes even stranger by replacing all the characters with sweet gummy candy. Gummy Alien? Check. Gummy A Clockwork Orange? Yep. The gummy bears even travel to spots as diverse as Oz, Arrakis, and the Overlook Hotel.

Spooky delicious!

The water wasn’t hot enough.
The coffee didn’t cook long enough.
The yuckery tasted wonderfully like sludgery.
