What an army vet thinks of the AR-15

“Fuck you, I like guns.”

“Fuck you, I like guns.”

America, can we talk? Let’s just cut the shit for once and actually talk about what’s going on without blustering and pretending we’re actually doing a good job at adulting as a country right now. We’re not. We’re really screwing this whole society thing up, and we have to do better. We don’t have a choice. People are dying. At this rate, it’s not if your kids, or mine, are involved in a school shooting, it’s when. One of these happens every 60 hours on average in the US. If you think it can’t affect you, you’re wrong. Dead wrong. So let’s talk.

In related news: Inside the Federal Bureau Of Way Too Many Guns

There’s no telling how many guns we have in America—and when one gets used in a crime, no way for the cops to connect it to its owner. The only place the police can turn for help is a Kafkaesque agency in West Virginia, where, thanks to the gun lobby, computers are illegal and detective work is absurdly antiquated. On purpose. Thing is, the geniuses who work there are quietly inventing ways to do the impossible.

Because Trump’s America really needs more guns

WASHINGTON — President Trump on Thursday enthusiastically embraced a National Rifle Association position to arm highly trained teachers to fortify schools against mass shootings like the one last week. Mr. Trump, who said the armed teachers should receive extra pay as an incentive, promoted his idea as demands for stronger gun control intensified across the country.

“You give them a little bit of a bonus, so practically for free, you have now made the school into a hardened target,” Mr. Trump said. The president estimated that 10 percent to 40 percent of school employees would be qualified to handle a weapon — he offered no data for the claim — and said he would devote federal money to training them.

I find all his talk about arming teachers disgusting on a level I can’t really even express. I don’t know what to compare it to. It’s one of those rare things that hits in a place I hadn’t yet armoured over with cynicism.

I honestly believe that American politics have turned into a weird Twilight Zone production that’s not even cool or funny.

New Law Determines Bullets No Longer Responsibility Of Owner Once Fired From Gun

New Law Determines Bullets No Longer Responsibility Of Owner Once Fired From Gun

PHOENIX—In an attempt to clarify the rights and obligations of those possessing firearms, the Arizona State Legislature approved a new law Wednesday declaring that a gun owner ceases to be responsible for a bullet once it has been fired from a weapon. “It simply makes no sense to hold people accountable for a round of ammunition that is no longer inside their gun, and this legislation clears this up once and for all,” said bill co-sponsor Sen. Steve Smith (R-Maricopa), observing that no one can reasonably expect an individual to exert control over a bullet or a bullet’s ultimate whereabouts once it has exited a gun’s barrel.

Somewhere, somebody is using that article as reference material to draft a real bill.

It wouldn’t surprise me if the Onion found it out in the trash behind the Arizona State Capitol building in Phoenix.

PS- They got me. I thought it was real when I first saw the headline on another site.

It seemed really, really plausible, especially given some of the ones that ARE real.

Especially…

“Of course, I chose to ignore the bit in Timothy 2:12 which says ‘no woman should have permission to teach’, as I would have had to stay home otherwise.”

Guns N’ Roses at House of Blues Chicago Tickets

House of Blues presents Guns N’ Roses live in concert at House of Blues Chicago. Get Guns N’ Roses concert tickets at HouseOfBlues.com.

I can’t believe the tickets were $125 in advance and are already sold out for a Sunday night show. Heck, I don’t know if they have a new album out, haven’t even heard any of the latest music or know even who’s in the band. And these guys used to be some of my personal heroes.
