30-60 Years For That Jerry Sandusky Sonofabitch

Jerry Sandusky sentenced to 30 to 60 years in prison

BELLEFONTE, Pa. - Jerry Sandusky rested his elbows on the wooden lectern and leaned toward the judge. He didn’t speak of remorse or plead for leniency, as many convicted felons do at sentencing. Instead, the former assistant football coach launched into a rallying speech, the type he might have once presented during an especially tough game at Penn State, where some remember him as “Touchdown Jerry.”

“We’re definitely in the fourth quarter now,” said Sandusky, 68, who was convicted in June on 45 counts of sexually abusing 10 young boys. “We will continue to fight. There’s much to fight.”

Fuck that sonofabitch.

Not long enough for that sonofabitch IMHO.

Castration comes to mind.

I have a bit of consolation that he is going into the general population. They will make the rest of his life a living hell.

Yep, he very well could be literally a tight end, for the first few minutes anyway.

The Moon Might Be Outshined by Comet ISON in 2013

tcr! · Oct 9, 2012 at 6:18 pm

New comet might blaze brighter than the full Moon

New comet might blaze brighter than the full Moon

A new comet has been discovered that is predicted to blaze incredibly brilliantly in the skies during late 2013. With a perihelion passage of less than two million kilometres from the Sun on 28 November 2013, current predictions are of an object that will dazzle the eye at up to magnitude - 16. That’s far brighter than the full Moon. If predictions hold true then C/2012 S1 will certainly be one of the greatest comets in human history, far outshining the memorable Comet Hale-Bopp of 1997 and very likely to outdo the long-awaited Comet Pan-STARRS (C/2011 L4) which is set to stun in March 2013.

A little over a year away ladies and gents and Comet ISON will be streaking across our sky. I plan to wear my best cowboy hat and boots in case they’re offering rides.

Ray Clift and His Steam Motorcycle

Steam motorcycle, 1947

Ray Clift was born in August, 1912, in Bellingham, WA, and his working years were spent in photography, machine shop, mechanical engineering and drafting. Ray and I were married in 1973, so I was not an eye witness to his early endeavors. All I have are some photos, his notations, and memories of things he mentioned.

More steam powered goodness. And it’s not like I intentionally wake up at 5:27am and go looking for this stuff.

People, Zombies, and the Blurry Line Between Them

What’s the Big Idea? “People, Zombies, and the Blurry Line Between Them”

Some zombie movies make the line between the living and the dead seem pretty easy to draw. When a family member returns from the grave and tries to eat us, it’s not hard to imagine having an itchy trigger finger. But at the heart of these terrifying texts lays a question that humankind has been asking for centuries: What does it mean to be a person?

Join Brendan Riley, Associate Professor in the Department of English, for the inaugural “What’s the Big Idea?” Honors talk, which brings students together to discuss new ideas, rethink old ones, and share the interdisciplinary spirit of the Honors community at Columbia College Chicago. This semester, our discussion will center on how tales of the dead can provide insight to the living.

This is tonight at 5:30pm. Why is all the cool zombie shit on weeknights? More from Bredan Riley at his blog, good book reviews and the like to boot.

• Online review of the presentation: Lecture highlights reality, legend of zombies.

The 13 Greatest Zombie Movies Ever Made

Here are the 13 greatest zombie movies of all time. And yes, this includes a lot of different types of zombies — whether they’re bitten by Sumatran rat-monkey, turned undead by a magical elixir or infected by the T-Virus, as long as they rot and move at the same time, they’re still zombies to us. Here they are, in no particular order.

I did a quick scan of the list of the greatest Zombie flicks and was startled to learn that no one has made a movie about W's administration. It would fall under the category of "Zombie Documentary".

Judy Garland’s ‘Dorothy’ dress up for auction

Celebrity auctioneer Darren Julien says Judy Garland’s original costume from The Wizard of Oz could sell for half a million dollars.

Why yes, I would like this dress for the upcoming wintery holiday. Don’t be mistaken though, the ruby slippers were the center piece.

Octopus Foils Underwater Fish Survey by Stealing Entire Bait Box

Researchers from the Save Our Seas Foundation were trying to count the fish in False Bay, Cape Town by using a baited remote underwater video (BRUV) system. An octopus foiled the survey by running off with the entire bait box. The octopus also fought off a small shark in the process.

Excellent footage.
