Dr. G. had this painting hanging in his reception area. I don’t know who painted it or the title.
I studied it some for a few minutes before every session because it’s unsettling. A smidge, a smudge peculiar. I like secular.
The house looks well maintained, no loose shingles or missing boards.
The top, left window might be open to air out the upstairs.
No breeze, no curtains blowing. Maybe no drapes at all. She took them when she left.
I imagine the porch to be swept and the front door to be locked.
It looks overall abandoned and devoid of life, coldly vacant in warmer, crunchy tones.
No people, no window silhouettes.
No tools or toys or flowers or swings.
No cars or trucks or farm machines.
No cows or meows.
Just a pale trail that bends and dead ends in a hook.
Abandoned only recently. The barn’s straight, the door’s open.
The chickens may be pecking gravel below the grass line.

I definitely should go to more City Council meetings. I might have a plight or two of my own.

Mr. Trump lacks the foreign policy experience and demeanor needed to be commander in chief. During the campaign more than 50 Republican former national security officials and foreign policy experts co-signed a letter opposing him. In their words, “he would be a dangerous president.” During the campaign Mr. Trump even said Russia should hack Hillary Clinton’s emails. This encouragement of an illegal act has troubled many members of Congress and troubles me.

Peeps, here’s my absolute favorite song by Beats Antique. It may have also been the first one I heard. Okay, I may have a slight crush on Zoe Jakes, too, but the violin. 🎻
Bonus: they covered Cruel Summer (yes that Bananarama one) but I can’t find it on the tubes. 😡
If you’re not listening to KEXP, you should be. Their YouTube videos are plum full of goodness.

Other than thermonuclear war, virtually every competent scientist in the world believes that the biggest threat to human survival is global warming. Donald Trump doesn’t believe global warming exists. Members of his own party have said that his ignorant insistence of this, despite the facts, should disqualify him from the Presidency. They are right. Actions must be taken, and incredibly swiftly, to address global warming or we will reach a point of no return. But the head of Trump’s EPA transition team (himself a global warming denier) consistently fights to roll back crucial stopgap measures already underway.
Fortunately, resources exist to help us, right now. www.asktheelectors.org is a simple tool to reach out to electors directly — use it to voice your concerns, and offer your support and thanks for their conscientious votes for Hillary Clinton. Sign a petition at Change.org, and share it on social media. Join in any public protest. And take every opportunity to speak honestly and earnestly to friends, family, neighbors, and coworkers, urging them all to join you in the fight for our shared future. If you are a Democrat, remind your Republican friends that if Trump had run as a Democrat — something he could have chosen to do - you’d be making the same argument. This isn’t about party. It’s about survival.

The Second Coming
—-W.B. Yeats
Turning and turning in the widening gyre
The falcon cannot hear the falconer;
Things fall apart; the centre cannot hold;
Mere anarchy is loosed upon the world,
The blood-dimmed tide is loosed, and everywhere
The ceremony of innocence is drowned;
The best lack all conviction, while the worst
Are full of passionate intensity.
Surely some revelation is at hand;
Surely the Second Coming is at hand.
The Second Coming! Hardly are those words out
When a vast image out of Spiritus Mundi
Troubles my sight: somewhere in sands of the desert
A shape with lion body and the head of a man,
A gaze blank and pitiless as the sun,
Is moving its slow thighs, while all about it
Reel shadows of the indignant desert birds.
The darkness drops again; but now I know
That twenty centuries of stony sleep
Were vexed to nightmare by a rocking cradle,
And what rough beast, its hour come round at last,
Slouches towards Bethlehem to be born?

the election chews at me, “to be sure*”.
i guess i’m counting on the f/u’s to be monumental and frequent.
i seriously thought in the final weeks he was gonna bust out with a bi-polar diagnosis and an “aw shucks”.
“to be sure”, when i use it, is a quote. an anonymous girl wrote it, and it was friggin’ poetry when she did.

I honestly, honestly did not think he’d make it this far. I’ve talked with a Trump supporter or two or three. I struggle with their argument that people were just “fed up” with politics and wanted something different. What, you want dead polar bears and a public school system run like welfare and bombs falling on ‘Merica? Sounds delightful.

W. came across reckless and oblivious. Trump comes across reckless and self-centered conscious, like a heat-seeking missile.
