The first Saturday in September each year is International Vulture Awareness Day
Vultures are an ecologically vital group of birds that face a range of threats in many areas that they occur. Populations of many species are under pressure and some species are facing extinction.
The International Vulture Awareness Day has grown from Vulture Awareness Days run by the Birds of Prey Programme in South Africa and the Hawk Conservancy Trust in England, who decided to work together and expand the initiative into an international event.

The street view on Google Maps is a great feature, especially for checking out places you’ve never been before. Sometimes though, Google inadvertently captures some candid, hilarious, and/or beautiful pictures of the spots they’re mapping.
Just imagine checking out a new place on street view and seeing one of these 31 pictures. Wait until you get to #11. That would freak me out.

It’d be nice if I could be judged based on today and not on yesterday. But I guess that’s not how it works, huh?

The reason I don’t like social media is that it takes two things that are polar opposites and duct tapes them together. Your own utility – to save links, to write text, to move files or materials, to keep notes, to communicate with yourself in the future, to communicate with some other specific people – and the social media outlet’s desire to fulfil its own objectives first.
Everything I put on the social webs is duplicated here for the simple reason that I’m not going to loose my works if they go belly up. And there are many a good thing that don’t need to go “social” but in the same sentence, I still want / need to express them. Creationism is in my DNA.
It also probably goes without saying that I like to tinker with the code. :-D
