Very Busy People by The Limousines

tcr! · Feb 20, 2015 at 1:17 pm

Peeps, here’s your video for Friday… They have to be one my most favorite bands. The video looks like my laptop during a work day, with graphics instead of webpages. And the lyrics are exactly the kind word-smith-y goodness you’d expect from any decent band.

We’ll end up numb from playing video games
and we’ll get sick of having sex.
And we’ll get fat from eating candy
as we drink ourselves to death.
We’ll stay up late
making mix tapes, photoshoping pictures of ourselves
while we masturbate to these pixelated videos
of strangers fucking themselves.

We are very busy people,
We are very busy people.

There’s crusty socks
and stacks of pizza boxes
making trails straight to the bed.
And when we’re done sleeping
we’ll stay busy dreaming of the things
we don’t have yet.
Well there’s a long, long list of chores
and shit to do before we play,
oh let’s just piss away the day.(piss away the day)
Crank call the cops down at the station,
just for friendly conversation,
requesting songs they never play;
Let’s hear the one that goes like:

We are very busy people,
We are very busy people;
But we’ve always got time for new friends.

So come on over and knock on our door,
it’s open whatchu waitin’ for?
We might be sprawled out on the floor,
but we still make lovely company.
Pull up a chair, I’ll pour some tea,
We’ll shoot the shit, ‘bout everything,
till you get sick of politics,
and flip on the TV screen,
we stare at the TV screen.
That Donnie Darko DVD has been repeating for a week,
and we know every single word.
(Every single word).
I’ve got an iPod like a pirate ship,
I’ll sail the seas
with fifty thousand songs I’ve never heard-
And all the best of them go

Fa la la la la la…
Fa la la la la la…

so i saw the “love is a dog from hell” viddy. i love their sound. on the “love is a dog” vid, around the minute 15 sec mark the drum fill defines them for me. i also loved the complete sexiness of their vids. the juxtaposition of black and white and boys and girls. the girl wearing her black jacket and white undies. it was definitely the whole package. even without the vid their sound is serious sexy. i saw several of their other vids the last time you got me started on them.

Ya, I love pretty much everything about them. The music, the lyrics, the videos, the whole vibe they lay out. Their history is kind of interesting.

“Through this collaborative process, without ever meeting face-to-face, they managed to construct multiple songs.”

Get Sharp by The Limousines

Get Sharp - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Get Sharp - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Get Sharp is the debut album by electro-pop group The Limousines. It was released on July 27, 2010, through iTunes and Hot Topic on indie label Orchard City Books and Noise. The album features the songs “Very Busy People” and “Internet Killed the Video Star”, the latter being an allusion to the Buggles hit “Video Killed the Radio Star.”

This has got to be my most favorite album with the weirdest cover. Like all the songs are my favorites and with it being released in 2010, that’s a rare thing.

I have to listen to the album from start to finish at least once during my work week.

listened to “internet killed” and “love is a dog from hell”.
love is a dog is the title of a charles bukowski collection.
sgc introduced me to bukowski.
the movie, “barfly” is supposedly a biopic about bukowski.
i kinda liked the music. the video “love is a dog” was rated r.

I know I watched Barfly but can’t recall it for the life of me.. Must’ve been drinking to better feel the vibe.

Hush is pretty good also.

he pretty much gets drunk, bleats beats, fights. i think he might try to have sex but for the life of me i can’t remember if he succeeds.
i knew a girl who was all impressed by him. i wasn’t willing to punish myself in those days, so we parted company. she kept bukowski.

The Limousines

anything can happen
as we make our way
home from the club

we could both be flattened
by a double decker city bus
otherwise a perfect night
if we’re not dead before it ends

we could live forever
but we’ll never get
this chance again…

don’t you worry,
don’t think about
tomorrow morning,
what’s your hurry?
just focus on tonight

we could fall in love
and trade this city
for a change of pace,
find our slice of paradise
and give our babies hippie names

maybe we’ll both hate each other
shitty sex ‘n seperate beds
we could get restraining orders
vow to never speak again…
on second thought let’s not say names,
I’ll just be me and you be you,
two perfect strangers being sneaky
with a flask of booze,
no need to think of any clever
pick up lines to use

i’ve got a stack of records
you just bring your dancing shoes

tonight i’ll drop the needle,
pop a bottle, sit back and just watch you
