Audio (MP3): 20170510 - Go Your Own Way (live) by Fleetwood Mac
Peeps, here’s your everything-turned-around Wednesday jam. I generally dislike live music and live videos but Go Your Own Way is just a classic. I really, really wanted to see them on the 1997 Dance tour.
I was a wee lad of just five when Rumours came out and the cover is still one of my all time favorites. I don’t remember who had the album at my house but somebody did. The album art got the whole elegant ballet, classy yet non-formal look going on. Not anything but being cool. Because Mick and Stevie were.
I always wondered (again as a kid) if those dangles, suspended by mere threads, were to symbolize Mick’s testicles. 🤔
I suspected but dared not ask.
Stevie Nicks asked Buckingham to remove the lyrics “Packing up, shacking up is all you wanna do”, but Buckingham refused.
I don’t blame her for asking. Me singing backing vocals to something that harsh when it was about me sounds only like heartbreak. And then to sing it every night on tour. Ugh.
And Mick Fleetwood looks happy as a clam in the video. I always appreciated how he was a big part of the band and not the typical sit-at-the-kit drummer.
And John McVie is back there on the left as usual, plucking his bass, rolling like a melodic freight train.
And without Christine McVie singing and writing, the band never would’ve had the mainstream success that they did.
And I don’t know how many times in the 80s I thought that I wanted to be Lindsey Buckingham.
And finally is it me or does Stevie Nicks kinda look like Carrie Fisher?
