I saw the movie “Detroit”

jimi hindrance experience · Aug 12, 2017 at 9:02 am

Rev. G. Sexton, et al:

I think it was supposed to be a big deal. A woman who was a big deal wrote and directed. It was about Detroit, summer of sixty-something.

I guess you have to African-American to “get” some things.

It was depressing as hell, as in DON’T GO SEE THIS MOVIE. Sometimes depressing can be good, music or film has many examples, IE: Midnight Cowboy.

“Detroit” is messed up beyond all reason. You will be sorry if you spend money on it.

Sorry to report this.

The police abused their power and were inhumane and brutal and wrong. The Blacks who lived in Detroit were powerless.

Fade to black.

That’s too bad. Detroit was actually on my short list of movies to see. I watched a documentary on the 1977 blackout in New York a week or so ago. I like 60 and 70s era gritty movies and shows. Sounds like Detroit might’ve taken grit to a new level.

WHOL NUBBA LEBEL.
