What was the motivation behind this piece?

god, i wish i could remember.

but, when you youtube carly simon's song there is a version that is called "the official" version. apparently they had a contest and this guy won.
the song is only improved with his version, and that ain't no easy trick.
i can and do listen to it over and over sometimes.

addendum:

i can't resist a word like leer/lear when it's available and usually write some jibberish when i notice it. sometimes i'm pointing at something in particular with the wordplay but often as not i'm just noticing the availability of another meaning.

i love seeing my words on NPP. whatever had my attention on the day i wrote it was usually the fuel for said words.
