goodam i loved that mofo. funny thing is, in those days i didn’t appreciate or maybe notice that i was watchin’ a classic.
nowadays, i know it when i see it. very recent memory is Fury Road, of course. also was Grand Budapest and Birdman. also was PSH’s last movie that i knew he was the star of: “A Most Wanted Man”. i don’t know how this works, but i think it wasn’t mentioned at the Oscar’s because it’s a Brit movie. it won some kind of BAFTA award, i’m sure.

Ya, you wouldn’t want to eat that little black orb. I don’t know if this variety of nightshade is poisonous so we don’t take any chances. :D

For some reason I’m thinking east coast with the leather jacket. Reminds of the late 70s on the Long Island seashore.

people who’ve known me a long time remember me co-opting the phrase, “Wendy, I’m home.” I just loved it. It became a catch phrase in my personal vernacular. The way he said it like she was supposed to be happy about it. As he’s chopping down the door. BIG SMILE. I’ve under reported my sharing Frank’s feelings for this classic. I read the book as an adult and it creeped me out. In retrospect, it’s about alcoholism and it’s co-conspiracies. The soundtrack, especially at the beginning, is the definition of eerie music. I understand that SK did not appreciate the Kubrick feel for the movie but I have to disagree. I read the book first and when the movie came out it was exactly as I’d pictured. RED RUM!!!

saw something about Gavin McInnes. there were some interesting quotes, including the irrepressible, “politically active in the Batman community”.

The French Horn guy in #12 just looks like he’s pleading with somebody off to the side to please let him stop. There’s a backstory there, I just know there is.

I’m not sure I’m qualified to comment on that design… I’m only a casual user of the system, not an admin. ;)

My two cents but all testes should be on the inside. It’s a flawed, evolutional design. Genitalia exposed.. the horrors.

we were talking about “in” jokes and our own personal “theater of the absurd” going on, but this crosses some lines.

I needed to look:
…most mammals have the testes outside the body because sperm apparently needs to be produced at a slightly lower temperature than normal body temperature.
Elephants have a lower core body temperature than most other mammals so don’t need the testes to be outside the body for them to produce viable sperm.

A few years ago, tism and I were sitting in a restaurant. There were two guys at the next table and one of them was going on and on about his super awesome job looking after celebrity yachts. He was describing all the fancy boats he had supposedly looked after, name dropping left and right. Finally, he was describing Mel Gibson’s yacht, and he said all the barstools were upholstered in (and this is a direct quote) “elephant nut sacks”. The second guy, who hadn’t said a word up to this point, finally spoke up and said “Actually… Elephants don’t HAVE balls.” This was followed by a stunned silence and moderate back-pedalling.
Of course we looked it up later, and sure enough, it’s true. “Actually… Elephants don’t have balls” has become a catch-phrase. It’s surprising how often you can work it into a conversation,
