āStar Wars: Episode VIIā Adds Peter Mayhew as Chewbacca (Exclusive)
The trio of new leads for Star Wars: Episode VII has yet to be revealed, but an actor from the original franchise is returning to reprise his role.
Mayhew played the legendary Wookiee and Han Soloās co-pilot in the original trilogy, beginning with Star Wars Episode IV - A New Hope in 1977. Rumors recently surfaced that he was reprising his role after he canceled an upcoming appearance at Texas convention Comicpalooza ādue to filming.ā Since the convention takes place May 23-26, many fans wondered if that meant the actor would be busy with Episode VII.
Iām excited about the new movies for sure but Iāve intentionally kept myself from reading too much about them. Seeing that Mayhew is coming back is cool but Iām also kinda hoping that they skip that time period entirely.
Meaning that Iād love to see the Legacy of the Force turned into a set of films. Itās the best, mainly stars Ben Skywalker (Lukeās son) and Jacen and Jaina Solo (Han and Leiaās kids). If you ever get the hankering to read a Star Wars series, you canāt go wrong with that set.
Millennium Falcon and Death Star are also well done if youād rather have standalone stories.
And yes, for a couple of winters all I did was read Star Wars books.
Episode VIII: Chewbacca as an elderly wookiee master, training a young wookiee Skywalker. All dialogue in Wookieespeak, with subtitles. "Rowr ahragh awf ahraroww rowh rohngr grgrff rf rf."

Not a bad story line so long the audience is provided with universal translators. I HATE SUB-TITLES. Those snooty French are always trying to sneak them into their films.

What if it was badly dubbed instead? Like a Wookiee version of the Godzilla movies?
Thanks for the mental image of snooty French Wookieesā¦
Also a "French Wookiee" has got to be a euphemism for something.
