I mean… We have regular dinner. We don’t go hungry or anything. But it’s not a “thing” here.

I kinda like the idea of a great New Years Day brunch. I seem to enjoy cooking that kinda thing more. But then again, I don’t know if that’d pan out if I’d stayed up until midnight the night before. π΄
I think that sounds great. And most places here serve brunch until 3 pm. Wikipedia also says up to 3 pm. So you don’t have to be up THAT early. π
This be all like….
Without the meat of course. π

There are all kinds of things you could make ahead or prep ahead. One of them is peach French toast. It needs to sit overnight in the fridge. It’s yummy!

We had Culver’s custard for lunch and I’m christening Ice Cream Lunch as our new new year’s meal tradition.

There are certain foods we eat on New Year’s Day but not a formal dinner like Tday or Christmas.

We just had cornbread, black eyed peas & baked potatoes. The black eyed peas & cornbread are good luck to eat on New Year’s Day in Southern culture.

Do you remember I used to make potato soup every Christmas Eve?
Kinda, sorta, not really π€·βοΈ
Hahaha π
That was when your father and I were married. John did not like potato soup so I never made it here

Mom’s family had ham and navy beans & cornbread every New Years Day. Beans for prosperity…but when she and Dad married she had to add large Lima Beans w / Ham & cornbread…Dad disliked Little Navy Beans.
