The Politics of Measles - The New Yorker
…An infamous 1998 study in The Lancet, which claimed that the rising incidence of autism was linked to vaccinations, was particularly influential with some of those parents—even though the data were found to be falsified and the author’s medical license was revoked…
[…]
…Asked about immunization on CNN last week, Senator Rand Paul, a potential Republican candidate for President—and a doctor—painted a pointlessly terrifying scenario: “I’ve heard of many tragic cases of walking, talking, normal children who wound up with profound mental disorders after vaccines.” No doubt, he has heard such stories, but the evidence does not support them…
I cherry picked what I thought most important.

as you know, i don’t have kids. for what it’s worth, i always get any vaccination that comes down the pike. i have a little more faith in american/western medicine than they deserve but i’ve never had any relief from acupuncture or other things people swear by.
i could go off on at least 3 different rants here but i’ll spare you.

i am not being efficient with my words.
i think that the right wing jesus fever types are dangerous. i am sometimes at a loss for evidence. this is an excellent example.

Prime beef example. I heard soOo much hoopla about vaccines causing autism but never a peep about bullshit data until now. It’s sad really. The kids suffer and die because of their parent’s stubbornness and/or ignorance.

It was always the stories about the Christian Scientists when I was a kid. Refusing medical attention because it would be Dog’s will if you lived or died. We just thought they were mental.
Now “data” is being pulled out of someone’s ass to refute medical science. That’s right people, it’s MOFO SCIENCE. When every parent becomes medical professional I’ll cut them some slack

This topic is the same as global warming. It’s all hearsay even though science has proven otherwise. It’s undeniably disgusting.
I read once that the reason children lie, etc. is because their physical brains have not developed enough to comprehend their actions. They are literally and technically incapable of absorbing what their parents are trying to teach them is wrong.
It’s only after they’ve physically grown a certain amount that they’re able to comprehend.
I wholeheartedly believe that some parts of some adult brains are still in that toddler state — completely unable to perform simple and logical functions.
I don’t know what other explanation for such ignorance could be.

I feel that I’ve come across as smug and enlighten. I feel that’s okay.

t: as spokesman for the smug, we rarely include you in our numbers. enlightenment is another story. i’ve seen you at the meetings.
