the tangled, jangled, star-spangled manner in which we receive
the blessings inflicted upon us

is to try to feel worthy
paralyzed in the headlights of hate
spine broken, thrown into a ditch
antlers covered with barbwire
we peek at the mess we’ve made of our lives

expressed, written ascensions
depressed, smitten transgressions
belief in gravity

This poem has the trademark wordplay, even in the notes to myself. Some veiled inconscience references to the abuse of the descendants of the poppy, and of course the spiritual longings and the magical love story secretions. this was trademarked and marked finished by me in 1998.
