rhymeless streaks of orange 

ignite the eastern sky

a renaissance of passion

 

runaway and thumbin’ rides

lonelier than suicide

breakfast table cordial 

stage direction for the scene

both being very careful 

to not say what they mean

goddamit it’s why they write love songs

amicable murder

we stood with our arms around each other 

while paparazzi skinned our souls

evidence for the trial

neither of us with any allies 

left, right or wrong

we depended on each other

for rhymeless streaks of song
