One of the first records I remember. Maybe more the album cover than the music but still…
Of course the clincher was the narration by Sterling Holloway. Mr Holloway also provided the timeless voice of Winnie the Pooh (for those of you who keep track of those sorts of things). There’s an innate sadness or frailty to his voice that sucks me in every time I hear it.
Love the fact this vid shows the same album with, I think, the same label we owned. Bonus points for the old record player…
DId you see "Moonrise Kingdom"? This reminds me of that. Triple mint post! Keep 'em coming!
i listened to it this time.
Sterling's voice is perfect for this narration.
I LOVED this.
try "Moonrise KIngdom"
Moonrise was directed by Wes Anderson, who definitely has a signature on his repertoire.
Wes Anderson's other work includes:
The Royal Tennebaum's
Rushmore
The Fantastic Mr. Fox
The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou
The Darjeeling Limited
Bottle Rocket
The Squid and the Whale.
Every one of them is a masterpiece. He doesn't fck around with tepid material. Nothing Hollywood about him and that is the highest compliment I can think of for a film maker.
I've heard of most of these. Thanks for the recommendations. :-)
