i saw an article on NikkiFinke.com about the box office for the past weekend.  She says, “It’s interesting how an “80s spoof of the superhero mythologies is beating up the Marvel Universe.” Please excuse my use of quotations, it’s paraphrased.

it’s been bugging the hell out of me.  i think the word/concept she was looking for was irony, and for the life of me i can’t understand why she didn’t use it.  

the teenage mutants beating the hell out of the “real” Marvel Universe characters is irony, defined.
