Moneyball money

So Joe Blow is the newest phenom and he’s hitting .325.  on top of that he’s got a golden glove and he is extremely well liked by the fans, his team mates and his employers.  this scenario is a few years in the future.  he’s had 3 years like this and everybody who knows about these things say it’s only going to improve.  so one day the owner comes to him and says i’d like you to continue playing for us so i’m going to offer you 1 million dollars per game, 1 million dollars per home run, and a percentage of the profit every year you make good on your stats.

there is weeping and gnashing of teeth across the land and the cry goes up that it ain’t fair!  that’s too much money to pay someone to play baseball, which he clearly loves doing.

so i say them, you think he shouldn’t be paid that much?

yes, they say.

oh, i say, you must be a communist.

WTF!?  where do get off saying that?

capitalism is when a good or service gets sold to the highest bidder.  a person with goods or a service to sell can and should be able to get every penny he possibly can for what he’s selling.  capitalism, free market 101.

to control what he gets paid is the equivalent of communism.

people don’t like to hear that.

the jackaxxis who compare obama care to socialism have their political ideology very mixed up as well.  but for the record, socialism is a great idea, except that it got corrupted at least as bad as democracy has in it’s grandest experiment.

I agree that ball players and the like shouldn’t be paid as much as they are…but that comes from the notion that we, in our capitalist country, place far too much emphasis on sports and the superstar athletes. If the nascars want to pay that much for these goods, so be it. But it makes me sad that they want to.

Communism wouldn’t be that bad if the whatever state power hadn’t taken control of the community. That said, I’d never live on a hippie commune. :-D

Obama? Hell, heees a black moslem wadded to a tranny.
