i saw the clash at the civic center in des moines. approx summer of '83. maybe '84.
loudest band i ever heard/saw. GREAT show. during the "combat rock" tour.
We brought a tape recorder to high school with some London Calling tunes on the tape. I remember we were listening when the bell rang for class. My buddy stuck the recorder in his locker and off we went. Came back after class and the lock was cut off his locker. When we found the tape recorder and started the tape we got a surprise. In the middle of Spanish Bombs we heard a coupla school officials voices on the tape. Best we could figure is we'd left the tape running when it got stuffed in my buddy's locker. The janitors musta heard the noise, tracked it to the locker, cut off the lock and accidentally hit the record button before they put it back.

I could never really get into the Clash. I tried and tried but maybe I was just listening to the wrong tunes.
they're really worth it. try the greatest hits pkg. there's a wide range of styles.

Nice. Do you remember what the school officials said on the tape?
