Art review: ‘Roy Lichtenstein: A Retrospective’ at the National Gallery
“Roy Lichtenstein: A Retrospective”: An expansive collection: The first full retrospective of Roy Lichtenstein’s career since the artist died in 1997 at the age of 73 arrives at the National Gallery of Art on Sunday. The 134-object exhibition will be sprawled over 15,000 square feet. Here’s a look at some of the works that will be featured, spanning his early pop paintings, his “Black-and-White” series and his Chinese landscape series, made in the artist’s last decade.
I saw the Lichtenstein Retrospective at the National Gallery in D.C. on the weekend. It was unruly. Genius. Beyond Reason. Go if you can. A+++
