That got your attention didn’t it?
So I was googling “Raymond Carver” and found this: www.misanthropytoday.com.
It tickled me pink. Hence, twisted. Misanthropy remains one of the only hobbies I still actively participate in.
Carver is definitely inspiring. Only 12 years older than me, he likely had the “affliction” and therefore could likely have been a peer. He’s about the same age as lots of my friends I made circa 1983-1995 or so. He didn’t live in exotic locales or make millions of dollars from his craft. His relationships were “troubled.”
He died from smoking cigarettes, like a couple of those people already have and more will eventually.
But… … …the words he wrote are the only epitaph he needs, although he’s got a couple doozies on his tombstone, apparently.
