i think “Birdman” is the best pic. i think there is a very good chance that “American Sniper” will win. i think Michael Keaton is the best actor. i think there is a very good chance that Bradley Cooper will win. i think Reese Witherspoon is the best actress. i think there is a very good chance that Julianne Moore or Felicity Jones will win. i like Wes Anderson and Alejandro G. Inarritu equally. this one could go anywhere. i like the script for Birdman best. i like Edward Norton for the best supporting and Emma Stone for best supporting. both from Birdman. i saw Birdman 14 times at the theater and i’m going again tomorrow afternoon. i like The Grand Budapest Hotel at least as much but it’s not flawless like Birdman. i only saw one of the animated movies, How to Train Your Dragon. i wish i’d seen the Big Hero 6.
repeating myself, i think American Sniper stands a very good chance of winning Best Picture and Actor. i loved the movie and the performances, etc, but i think it’s a populist vote. best thing that ever happened to Clint Eastwood’s movie was the attacks in Paris a few weeks ago. i like movies so much and inevitably there are a few i didn’t see. not so this year. i saw almost everything except the animated and the best actress categories. i still think Reese Witherspoon is best, even with nothing to compare her to. i loved her movie. i loved ‘em all this year. Whiplash and Foxcatcher are both depressing as hell but they were good, sad movies. i guess the most over-hyped thing in the batch is The Imitation Game. it was a great movie but there were better things. the most over looked this year is Jennifer Aniston’s movie, Cake.
i have been awake for more than 24 hours right now. i will be awake until about midnight. caffeine is the only stimulant.
it’s kind of weird in “One Bourbon, One Scotch and One Beer” that he never mentions Canadian Whisky.
Reese Witherspoon? Seriously, I’m married. You’ve got to stop this.
My dad took all of us to movies as a special occasion treat. he took us to see John Wayne movies. we also got to go to Disney stuff on the free days at Christmas time. i also remember The Swiss Family Robinson. by the time the Planet of the Apes franchise was out i was going to movies by myself. my dad took us all to see Jaws when it was brand new. THAT was a FANTASTIC movie. Star Wars and all kinds of other stuff. French Connection. Steve McQueen in Bullit (at the Drive In). i took acid the first time i saw One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest. not recommended. i’ve seen it since.

I like GBH better as an all around movie. Birdman was good but I had closeup-fatigue within 10 minutes. Keaton was great though… I hope he gets Best Actor.

Go see Big Hero 6, it’s better plot-wise and funnier than Dragon 2. I will admit the CGI was better in the latter but story counts.
We have Boxtrolls but never got around to watching it. :-(

I’m glad that Birman won. Keaton delivered an outstanding performance.
