Cormac McCarthy

And now the cons:

PRAISE THE VERY FUNNY FUCKING LORD!!!

McCarthy told Oprah that he prefers “simple declarative sentences” and that he uses capital letters, periods, an occasional comma, a colon for setting off a list, but “never a semicolon.” He does not use quotation marks for dialogue and believes there is no reason to “blot the page up with weird little marks.”

Cormac and other admirables aside, my big thing is with capitalization.

i got the notion from a character of Saul Bellow’s. he’s just being silly, as was Saul, but i bought it wholesale.

when you begin to put nouns through the sorting hat and some come up proper, and then assign an importance of capitalization, no good can come of it.

or i could be wrong. or lazy. or attention starved. or unable to focus. or, wait a sec, i smell cake.

I can't agree with Cormac; semi-colons are my favourite.
