A little secret

The Graduate movie poster

Dee, dee dee dee dee dee dee dee dee dee dee dee dee dee.

I’m watching “The Graduate.” I was apparently 7 years old when it was released but it’s always been a favorite. It is hysterical and poignant at the same time, and Simon and Garfunkel rock it beyond reason.

Dustin Hoffman plays an awkward young man (anybody ever know any of those?) and Ann Bancroft plays “Mrs Robinson” which has become a cultural icon for an experienced seductress. Katherine Ross plays Elaine, which has become a name…

Paul Simon’s lyrics, “the words of the prophet are written on the subway walls, tenement halls” were paid homage by Rush, who changed the “subway walls” and “tenement halls” to “studio walls” and “concert halls”.

Paul Simon also left us with the poetic and deep, “Coo coo ca-choo, Mrs Robinson” which are carved on my soul.

If you’ve ever thoroughly enjoyed being exploited by experience, or just like funny movies with great soundtracks, this is for you. A slice of Americana, with cheese.

This has been on my list to see for years. I should bump it higher up. It sounds much more fun than 1971's Straw Dogs that I tortured myself with.
