the good dr. changed my life. lots of what i believe about healthy skepticism is directly inspired by hst. my views about ronald raygun (re-read the “star-wars” stuff from the reagan years), george bush and W (he’s a war criminal) are my way of keeping the faith. i took an unhealthy and hero-worship attitude about some of it though and i pranked some people that didn’t appreciate it at the time. i tried to make amends to them.

do you remember when dick cheney face-shot the guy on a wild goose hunt? (cheney? wild goose hunt? no he dint say that!)

i know for a fact that there was something else happened:

W was the shooter. he was all fucked up on the blood of the poor and he had that look in his eye. some of them that had been present at previous “episodes” began to put distance between themselves and the commander. he started with, “I am going to shoot your face off!”

Again, the more senior members of the party started to scatter. They knew he meant bidness after two or three drinks and several actually “ducked for cover”.

After W missed his mark, there was a scramble for the newsbyte. A genius said, “I know! We’ll tell ‘em Dickie done it!” They had some kind of typical party member blackmail handy on the victim and the rest is history. He apologized for being shot in the face and paid the fines and Cheney went on to commit war crimes for the rest of his career. W. was, according to the official story, at home trying to figure out the remote when it all happened.

i have come back everyday to look at this. we need to remember that dali and picasso weren’t always famous. whenever i go to d.c. i go to the art museums usually the first day and spend most of the time there. i have stood for a long time to look at Monet’s stuff. this was in Chicago and D.C. it was like the led zeppelin or steely dan of the art world. i have gone to Chicago and D.C. specifically to see single pieces of art. just because someone isn’t rich or famous or dead doesn’t mean we aren’t in the presence of greatness. i count among my closest friends several people who i consider absolutely touched with genius. SGC56 is a wordsmith. tlc, in addition to making eggs, is an artist extraordinaire and also a wordsmith with a guitar. rich j. is an artist. i am married to a woman who hammers her living on a keyboard. PGC can take boards and tools and build stuff. i guess i’m in that especially forgiving kind of light that shines now and again on me. i’m reading a short story collection by raymond carver who wrote some of it while he lived in iowa city. without books and music and pretty things to look at, i’d have hide behind trees and scare people for fun. peasoutsalome.

ok, i was trying to be funny. most of the worst of humanity can be ignored. the friends and loved ones that are disaffected and find a voice with dt are to be humored and tolerated, not scorned and ridiculed. very few dunkings are in order.

except of course when you’re looking at a professional turd fondler, like donald trump. i don’t remember if i told you yet of how certain i am that he’s going to lose, (completely serious, not even the slightest hint of anything other than truthiness) but i will take the opportunity to quickly say so now. i won’t turn the bang into a soapbox. i told myself i’d never be as angry about politics again after W’s regime. what’s got my attention this time around is everything that he says and does. i’m surprised that i’m surprised. this is my prediction…slash that, it’s a fugging prophecy: dt is going to forget himself and say something like “Hitler wasn’t all that bad” or even that he “was a just a misunderstood rascal.” it might not that be that good but it’s going to be historic. he’ll decry the inconvenience of democracy or suggest camps for blacks, the poor, or fill-in-the-blank. it’s more fun than a kegger on acid and just about as cheap. just look at the day he had on Wednesday. i doubt but won’t rule out a freak out. Historic with proper punctuation. the results will be (i really want to say mind-boggling but it won’t boggle my mind at all) Historic. avalanche of apathy amongst disaffected dumbass (what is the plural of dumbass? my computer doesn’t like my position that words are larger and more important than one spelling can contain). in summary, i don’t think it’s necessary to be kind to the bullies of the world. jerk their drawers down around their ankle and make ‘em bob for brown apple.
