Published in 1963, the book was a startling departure from the sweetness and innocence that then ruled children’s literature. “Wild Things” tapped into the fears of childhood and sent its main character — an unruly boy in a wolf costume — into a menacing forest to tame the wild beasts of his imagination.
Librarians banned the book as too frightening. Psychologists and many adults condemned it for being too grim. But a 1964 Los Angeles Times review echoed many critics: The “aggressive flight of fantasy” was “the best thing of its kind in many a year.”
I never watched the movie, the book has a certain childhood significance to me and I worry the film would spoil that.

The full “super Moon”, scientifically known as a “perigee moon”, rises over Los Angeles, California May 5, 2012. A “super Moon” lit up Saturday’s night sky in a once-a-year cosmic show, overshadowing a meteor shower from remnants of Halley’s Comet, the U.S. space agency NASA said. The Moon looked especially big and bright, because it reached its closest spot to Earth at the same time it was in its full phase, NASA said. Below, the full moon rises behind a mosque as birds fly in Amman.
Totally forgot about it, crossing my fingers the sky clears up tonight.

If you’re planning a trip to the dentist, it might not be the wisest decision to make your appointment with the person with whom you just broke up.
A Polish woman is facing three years in prison after she removed all of her ex-boyfriend’s teeth during dental surgery just days after their breakup.
“I tried to be professional and detach myself from my emotions,” Anna Mackowiak, 34, told the Austrian Times. “But when I saw him lying there I just thought, ‘What a bastard’ and decided to take all his teeth out.”
Never screw with a woman scorned.

Adam Yauch, who performed under the stage name MCA, is dead after losing a long battle with cancer, according to reports from Global Grind and TMZ.
The 47-year-old member of the Beastie Boys announced he would be receiving treatment for a cancerous tumor in his salivary gland in July 2009, and that that as a result the group would cancel some future shows and push back the release of a new album.
Sabotage still makes me feel like I’m somebody. 8-)

For the uninitiated, “Star Wars” Day — an unofficial and fan-created “holiday” — occurs every year on May 4, because “Star Wars” fans love their puns: “May the Fourth be with you.” (Get it? Instead of “May the Force be with you.”)
Wearing my X-Wing t-shirt in celebration!

A claw foot bathtub filled to the brim with bubbles.
A straight razor and a bar of soap.
Envision pulling a Pink and shaving head to toe.
Including the nipples, they’re useless for men anyway.
