If news is plural for new why is it not acceptable to say “These news are great” ?
Or, more importantly how do I refer to multiple news?

I’m disappointed in the way English does this. You have to talk about pieces of news, or news items. ððð I feel like we need to invent the plural newses. It would be better. And then we could also have “a news”. https://www.espressoenglish.net/is-news-singular-or-plural/

I hate “news items” more than jelly fish. The word “items” is vague and unexciting.

The good news is, if you convince enough people, you can change the language. I’m thinking we could use 60s Batman sound effect words to give an indication of news excitement level. How about a news kapow? News bam? News biff?

Oh, news biff: I’m hearing more people refer to “jellies” nowadays instead of jelly fish, if that helps.
