What I’d like for my next birthday is a Target walkie-talkie so I could say, “We need more damn cashiers at the checkout aisles. Who the hell is responding?”

Shop local family owned stores. Buy American. Happy New Year.

tamaraholby · Dec 31, 2018 at 1:33 pm

Jimi C I do buy American. I support our local stores and restaurants but sometimes you just got to buy cat food, cat litter, personal deodorant and little almond joy candy bars. Target based in good old Minnesota. Happy 2019!

tcr! tcr! · Dec 31, 2018 at 1:37 pm

Buying American isn’t an easy thing to do. I’d didn’t research but I’d wager that any smart phone built today was built overseas with foreign parts.

Jimi C. · Dec 31, 2018 at 2:03 pm

oh, i know.. I’m sure my shirt was made by some marginalized wage slave in the pacific rim.. ..but f!@# him, I’m comfortable and look good, thats all that counts.

tamaraholby · Dec 31, 2018 at 2:04 pm

You don’t have to buy that stuff

tamaraholby · Dec 31, 2018 at 2:06 pm

tcr u r probably right but the fact you pay attention to what’s out there is a big part. Like knowing where you food comes from.

Jimi C. · Dec 31, 2018 at 2:06 pm

thanks Capt. Obvious

tamaraholby · Dec 31, 2018 at 2:09 pm

Jimi C sarcasm noted. Man, it is really beautiful out today

I love Target.

tcr! tcr! · Dec 31, 2018 at 1:18 pm

Me, too! I’ve been in here 5 time since Christmas. That should be reason enough to give me my own Target frequency communications device! 🎉

Shop local

tcr! tcr! · Dec 31, 2018 at 1:38 pm

Are you saying that I should exclusively shop at local stores?

13th of Matthew · Dec 31, 2018 at 1:42 pm

shopping Local is tough. Not many places have everything. Plus Blue Goose is over priced.

hodges · Dec 31, 2018 at 1:52 pm

Brick and mortar are a dying breed. Don’t make them extinct.

Hater McGhray Hater McGhray · Dec 31, 2018 at 2:04 pm

Brick and mortar is a cool store but very expensive. Also, what if you need batteries, zip ties, plastic cups, light bulbs, a frozen pizza, kiwis, a lantern, 3 tennis balls, a wedding card and a puzzle of a lake setting?

SStroh · Dec 31, 2018 at 5:32 pm

ALDI!!! Half the price of Target 😉

Hater McGhray Hater McGhray · Dec 31, 2018 at 5:46 pm

I love Aldi but you can’t always count on them having specific items. 😢

SStroh · Dec 31, 2018 at 5:48 pm

Very true. I try to make them my first stop - get what I can there. Then head to Meijer or Jewel or Target.

I’m surprised, there is so often someone standing there watching the checkouts and calling cashiers up or taking a register themselves. I wonder if they were understaffed or having a rush and already had everybody up front? I’ve rarely had to wait in a long line at that Target. Sorry you had to!

Sheman Caruso · Dec 31, 2018 at 4:03 pm

Until you have worked at Target, you don’t understand that there are employees that are Cashiers only. They are timed on how quickly they check you out. This is often something they have no control over but is their ultimate goal. Everyone who works for Target is trained on the cash registers and stop whatever they are doing unless they were with a guest to head up front. Target wants you to enjoy your shopping experience and does everything they can to make it that way. Hope you can learn a little more patience and empathy. What are you in such a hurry about???

SStroh · Dec 31, 2018 at 5:34 pm

Sheman like you’ve never been impatient & in a hurry ? I have been in Target before where there are 3 lanes out of 30, open. Like really?! Why so many registers if they never get used?

gentile · Dec 31, 2018 at 10:48 pm

Sheman last I checked, I’m the customer. I don’t care what responsibilities the cashiers or any other employee has. Waiting 17 minutes to check out with one item is total BS. No matter how you look at it, my time is valuable to me and if I continue to have to wait that long to check out, I’ll go to another store. The Wheaton store has you in line and out the door in less than 5 minutes no matter the time or day.

MBF I’ve only lived here a few years and have often wondered if a seismic event happened in that parking lot. It is The. Worst.

They pay the employees poor wages.

SStroh · Dec 31, 2018 at 8:32 pm

jRitter seriously. When i was 17-22 I was not making a ton either. Target is a starter job - and if u don’t want to work - then don’t. So sick of hearing how poorly the pay is.

jRitter · Dec 31, 2018 at 8:36 pm

They can’t keep help. YOU millennials are lazy. … keep scrolling.

SStroh · Dec 31, 2018 at 8:39 pm

Seriously. I am 48 with a Corp career. Worked my ass off as a teen & young adult. Who are u calling a millennial?!?!!!

jRitter · Dec 31, 2018 at 8:40 pm

So it really about you ?? Who would have thought 🤔

SStroh · Dec 31, 2018 at 8:43 pm

Get over it already. Seriously. I am far from a millennial. My point was,,,,, that these kids won’t work for anything. Hence, why Target can’t keep employees - because they (the employees) expect more.

grace b · Dec 31, 2018 at 8:50 pm

Oh wow, she has a Corp. career, no wonder she can’t wait.

SStroh · Dec 31, 2018 at 9:15 pm

O brother. Really? Job - career. Does it make a diff??? U obviously missed my point. So go back to watching the ball drop 🙄

jRitter · Dec 31, 2018 at 9:19 pm

I’m watching you back track and drop the corporate ball. Have a good evening. And maybe some more wine 🍷🍷

grace b · Dec 31, 2018 at 9:29 pm

SStroh, you’re the one that referred to your Corp. Career, not me. I’m surprised you shop at Target. You sound more like a Von Maur kinda gal. No waiting in line like the rest of us peasants.

SStroh · Dec 31, 2018 at 9:30 pm

jRitter… I’m seriously concerned over the allergic reaction to working hard for a paycheck. That was my initial point. Didn’t mean to offend the lazy asses of the world. 😎✌️

SStroh · Dec 31, 2018 at 9:36 pm

grace b… I refer to it as such because I have worked hard for the same company for 18 years. Trust me - ain’t no millionaires living in my house. We work hard to get through each week. Raising kids and paying for their dreams isn’t an easy task. It baffles me how both of u missed my point. But, whatever. And yes, I enjoyed my glass of wine. Happy fucking New Year.

grace b · Dec 31, 2018 at 9:58 pm

Let’s review your point, you don’t like to stand in line because you have a Corporate career and you think you’re special.

SStroh · Jan 1, 2019 at 5:18 am

I’m so over you. 🙄 Happy New Year.

ianm · Jan 1, 2019 at 7:30 am

You’re not kidding!! 17 minutes to buy one thing today!! It’s nuts!! At least add a self checkout or a quick lane.

SStroh · Dec 31, 2018 at 9:31 pm

gentile, right?!?!

It’s silly that they can’t streamline it! It’s not that hard!

Just to stick my two cents in….. I try NOT to use the self check out lines. I feel like if you stand in a longer line they will take the hint, get rid of the self check outs and hire more people?

Giuliano · Jan 1, 2019 at 9:32 pm

Saint Charles store isn’t remodeled so there are no self check outs.

hamilton · Jan 1, 2019 at 9:35 pm

Hope they keep it that way 😁

sr naylor · Jan 1, 2019 at 9:41 pm

tcr! tcr! · Jan 1, 2019 at 10:08 pm

Just to put this out there, my original post had nothing to do with the cashiers themselves, or how hard they work, or how much money they’re paid.

It was slight jab in an obviously joking way directed at the management team for not paying attention to how many people were waiting in line, while I was in fact waiting in line at that particular Target.

If you missed that I was poking fun at Target management in the original post maybe you need to slow down a little when on social media. Not every post is a cause you need to take up arms about. No cashiers needed defending in my post.

Also, my post was not without warrant. I’m in there several times a month and most times they have 2-3 checkout aisles open even though there are 20+ available stalls. Or whatever they call them. And they don’t even have an express lane any more.

Yes, I was short on patience because I was hussling to a NYE party with three last minute items but then had to wait for sheer minutes (minutes I tell ya!) behind Aunt Loretta (and her cart full of her own NYE party favors) before the “who is responding” came over the loud speaker.

The good news is that I’m in a tense bidding war with a man from Argentina for an actual Target walkie-talkie. If you don’t hear back from me it’s because I spent my daughter’s tuition for naught.

See you all in Target. 😉
